Learn Easy Guitar Chords

If youíre a beginner and want to learn how to play the
guitar, one of the first things youíll want to do is try
learning guitar chords.  Guitar chords are music in
themselves as opposed to single notes.  You wonít
want to get into any bad habits so start with some
easy guitar chords and build your confidence first.
At first, memorize the notes on the first couple of strings.
Then figure out what the notes on the rest of the strings
will be.  With a bit of practice and repetition, youíll be
amazed at how quickly you commit these easy guitar
chords to memory.  In time you'll develop more of a feel
for where the notes fall, without having to think about it,
but that's not necessary for chord theory when learning
guitar chords.  What you really need to be able to do is
to be able to figure out what notes you're playing in a
given chord.  Itís just another piece of the puzzle on the
road to learn how to play the guitar.

Here weíll include some Major and Minor Chords guitar chords.
The following easy guitar chords use as many strings as
possible and because of that they sound very full and
especially good when learning guitar chords without
accompaniment.  These are great chords for strumming
when you want to learn how to play the guitar.
(especially on Acoustic Guitar).

There are also two types of chord shapes that help to
find all minor and major chords including the sharp (#)
and flat (b) Chords.  Letís look at a couple:

For example B-minor:
|-------|-(|)--|-------|-------|------|------|
|-------|-(|)--|--(2)--|-------|------|------|
|-------|-(|)--|-------|--(4)--|------|------|
|-------|-(|)--|-------|--(3)--|------|------|
|-------|-(R)--|-------|-------|------|------|
|-------|-(|)--|-------|-------|------|------|
1ST Fret

D-minor:
|-------|-(|)--|-------|-------|------|------|
|-------|-(|)--|--(2)--|-------|------|------|
|-------|-(|)--|-------|--(4)--|------|------|
|-------|-(|)--|-------|--(3)--|------|------|
|-------|-(R)--|-------|-------|------|------|
|-------|-(|)--|-------|-------|------|------|
4TH Fret

As you move this formation up or down the fretboard,
note that the root (R) determines the name of the minor
chord. For example if you want to find the E minor chord,
simply move the formation up the fretboard until you locate
the E root note on the A-String.

Now hereís an example of the formation for a major chord.
Letís start with F-Major:
|-(|)--|-------|-------|------|------|-------|
|-(|)--|-------|-------|------|------|-------|
|-(|)--|--(2)--|-------|------|------|-------|
|-(|)--|-------|--(4)--|------|------|-------|
|-(|)--|-------|--(3)--|------|------|-------|
|-(R)--|-------|-------|------|------|-------|
1ST Fret

G-Major as Example:
|-(|)--|-------|-------|------|------|-------|
|-(|)--|-------|-------|------|------|-------|
|-(|)--|--(2)--|-------|------|------|-------|
|-(|)--|-------|--(4)--|------|------|-------|
|-(|)--|-------|--(3)--|------|------|-------|
|-(R)--|-------|-------|------|------|-------|
3RD Fret

Notice that this formation is very similar to the minor formation except that all fingers have moved to the adjacent strings.  Again, you can move the formation up and down the fretboard taking note of the Root (R) which tells you which major chord youíre playing.  Try a few.  Youíll be playing these easy guitar chords in no time with a bit of repetition.
